Welcome to the Digswell Village Church
community of Daily Prayer.

This plan of prayer aims to bring us all together wherever we are, particularly on Sundays.

The prayer suggestions include all the main components of the prayer of the Church: psalmody, scripture and intercession. The readings, psalms and prayers come from those used by many churches throughout the world. They are all suggestions and are not intended to take over any other pattern of prayer you may have. However, we think it would be good if we all shared the same material on Sundays.

We commit together to a time of prayer wherever we are each day following a simple pattern:

We remain in silence for a while.
Opening prayer: our own or a short psalm verse such as the one provided for the week.
Psalm: for the day, or use the psalm for the week each day.
Bible reading: following a chosen pattern or using one or both of those suggested. The Sunday readings are always used.
Prayers: for the intentions suggested, for Digswell Village Church, our own intentions and for ourselves.
Prayer for the week: which will be used at some time during Sunday worship.
Lord’s Prayer
Closing prayer: the Grace or some other.
